Egypt Tourism Set to Rebound: What Travelers Need to Know

In a recent statement, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) expressed confidence that Egyptian tourism will recover from its recent decline in popularity.

“Egypt has undertaken decisive measures to communicate with the relevant authorities and with public opinion in source markets about safety and security, to secure the support of airlines and tour operators, to stimulate demand, and to involve key stakeholders in Egypt in these coordinated efforts. I believe these actions will help restore confidence and speed up the recovery of tourism to Egypt,” said Taleb Rifai, Secretary-General of the UNWTO.

“We should not forget that Egypt is one of the world’s most notable tourism success stories,” he added. “Over the past decade, visitor numbers to Egypt nearly tripled, and the revenue from international tourism followed suit. Egypt is, and will remain, a leading tourism destination despite the challenges it faces.”

The UNWTO urged the international community to support Egypt’s efforts to rebuild an industry that is crucial to the nation’s employment and GDP.
