If you need an excuse to escape to Spain for a late‑summer retreat, here it is: the iconic Don Carlos Marbella has reopened following a $52 million redesign led by Jaime Beriestain. Drawing on the spirit of Andalusia, Beriestain used natural materials such as stone, wood and raffia and introduced accents inspired by Parisian brasseries and classic 17th‑century furnishings reimagined with a contemporary touch.

The redesign emphasizes the interplay of light and form, creating a bespoke, luxurious atmosphere that respects the resort’s rich history while feeling fresh and modern.
Established in 1969 as Hotel Don Carlos, the property remains a landmark of Mediterranean luxury. The resort now includes 308 guest rooms, suites and residences, a full‑service Natura Bissé spa and four new dining and beverage venues, including two beach clubs.

The resort is also home to Spain’s first Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre, featuring nine courts—seven clay and two padel—with views of the sea. A well‑equipped Pro Shop stocks leading brands like Nike and Babolat. Training follows the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar philosophy and incorporates The Wingfield System, an advanced analytics platform that tracks and analyzes performance, allowing guests to refine their game on the Costa del Sol.
Wellness is a central focus at Don Carlos. The newly unveiled indoor spa spans more than 5,000 square feet and welcomes guests with the calming fragrance of Andalusian orange blossom. The facility includes a thermal area with sauna and steam bath, an aromatherapy cabin, a “temple” of showers and a comprehensive water circuit featuring hot and cold contrast pools designed to restore balance and relaxation.

Treat yourself to signature spa rituals like the Mindtouch Experience or the Golden South Essence Massage, then relax on the Solarium Terrace under the sun. The resort also offers well‑appointed meeting spaces for events and conferences. Dining highlights include Los Naranjos for fine cuisine, Sol & Sombra by the pool, light bites at Break Point café near the tennis center, and handcrafted cocktails at Campari Bar Manero, a striking venue designed by Lázaro Rosa Violán. The beachfront scene is lively, too, with Nikki Beach Marbella Club and the Lucia Summer Club 2025 by Nikki Beach pop‑up ensuring easy access to food, drink and entertainment.
