Delta Launches Direct Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles Route

Delta Air Lines will launch a new daily non-stop service between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Los Angeles International Airport beginning April 24, 2017. This route is notable for being the first non-stop connection between Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles to offer a fully lie-flat first-class seat, giving travelers an option for greater comfort on the transcontinental journey.

Passengers booked in first class can expect expedited check-in and priority boarding. Complimentary beverages and meals are provided in-flight, enhancing the overall travel experience for those choosing the premium cabin.

Ranjan Goswami, vice president of sales, West Region, Delta Air Lines, commented on the launch: “We know that for Delta customers in L.A. and D.C., ‘how’ you get there is important. As the only airline to offer full flat-bed seats between these markets, our customers will arrive rested and productive — and it’s that premium distinction in the customer experience that differentiates Delta.”

The service will operate using Boeing 757-200 aircraft configured to include 16 fully reclining first-class seats with lie-flat capability, 44 Delta Comfort+ premium-economy seats, and 108 standard economy seats. This cabin mix is designed to serve a range of traveler needs, from those seeking maximum comfort and rest to passengers prioritizing value.

By introducing lie-flat seating on this non-stop pairing, Delta aims to attract business travelers and others who prefer to arrive refreshed after a coast-to-coast flight. The added amenities—accelerated airport processing, priority boarding and complimentary onboard service—support a more seamless and comfortable journey for premium passengers.

Travelers considering this route should note the daily frequency and aircraft type when booking to ensure they select the cabin and amenities that best match their travel preferences. The new service expands premium options on the competitive transcontinental corridor between the nation’s capital and the West Coast.
