Delta Cuts Ticket Fees: What Travelers Need to Know

Delta Air Lines has removed the additional charges for purchasing tickets by phone or in person at the airport. Previously, customers paid $25 for phone bookings and $35 for purchases made at airport ticket counters. With the fee elimination, buying a ticket via phone or at the airport now costs the same as booking online or through the Fly Delta app.

“This — and every decision we make — is based on engaging with our customers and employees every day. By listening, caring and connecting with our customers, we have their backs every time they fly with us,” said Charisse Evans, vice president, reservations sales and customer care at Delta Air Lines. “I am extremely proud of our dedicated colleagues who, along with the support of nearly 80,000 Delta employees worldwide, continue to raise the bar by exceeding our customers’ expectations.”

Passengers should note that the waiver does not apply universally. Some international itineraries, including certain European destinations, may still incur a ticket purchase fee. Travelers planning international flights should confirm whether the fee applies when booking through phone or at the airport.

Removing these fees makes all booking channels—online, mobile app, phone and airport counter—more consistent and convenient for customers. The change aims to simplify the purchase experience and ensure travelers have the same pricing options regardless of how they choose to book.

If you typically prefer to speak with an agent when arranging travel, this update removes a cost barrier and encourages passengers to use the method that best fits their needs without worrying about extra fees. For complex itineraries, special services or travelers who need additional assistance, phone and in-person bookings remain available at no added charge in most domestic cases.

While the policy adjustment benefits many customers, always verify fees at the time of booking for specific routes and ticket types. Policies can vary by market and fare class, and exceptions may exist for some international travel. Contact Delta or your travel advisor to confirm applicable fees for your itinerary.
