Currently Resident: What In Residence Means and Why It Matters

34 Dover Street in London’s Mayfair has gained an exciting new tenant: Michelin-starred Chef Antonio Mellino’s Quattro Passi London. This marks Mellino’s first restaurant outside Italy, and it remains a family venture—his wife Rita and sons Raffaele and Fabrizio collaborate closely on the project. In Italy, Mellino also runs a cookery school at his Quattro Passi Nerano on the Amalfi Coast. Taught by the restaurant’s head sous-chef, the school offers a variety of options, including a two-hour cooking class with lunch and longer one- or two-night courses that include stays in one of seven rustic guest rooms. Guests at Nerano can enjoy the gardens and a swimming pool overlooking the Mediterranean.

Quattro Passi London presents a refined, warm interior and a seasonally driven menu rooted in classic Southern Italian flavors. Highlights include scialatielli pasta with pumpkin, cuttlefish, prawns and mint; crispy suckling pig with apple purée, black cabbage and mustard sauce; and a traditional Sicilian cannolo filled with ricotta. On weekdays the restaurant serves a gourmet two- or three-course business lunch from noon to 3 p.m. Reservations are recommended to secure a table.
