Coastal Retreat Opens in Northern California This November

Situated on the dramatic cliffs of Northern California, Mendocino Cove is set to open in November as a 50-room boutique retreat. Developed by the team behind the acclaimed Mendocino Grove glamping destination, the property integrates wellness, recreation and thoughtful culinary offerings to create a well-rounded coastal escape.

The property features multiple room types to suit different preferences, from ocean-view accommodations to elevated motor-lodge–style rooms. In early 2026 Mendocino Cove will add garden suites that provide a more residential feel with private outdoor gardens. Across the grounds, guests can enjoy a wide range of wellness and recreation amenities: eight pickleball courts, direct beach access, an outdoor hot tub, a cold plunge pool, a dry sauna, a fitness center and an on-site spa.

The hotel’s signature bar and restaurant will open this winter, offering seasonal menus that highlight the region’s freshest ingredients. Dining at Mendocino Cove is designed to complement the coastal setting, with a focus on locally sourced produce and flavors that change with the seasons.

“With Mendocino Grove, we created a space where people could connect with nature in a new way,” said Teresa Raffo, co-founder of Mendocino Grove and Mendocino Cove. “Mendocino Cove carries that spirit forward but reinterprets it through the lens of a boutique hotel — a place where guests can immerse themselves in the raw beauty of the Mendocino Coast while also enjoying modern comforts, vibrant food and beverage, and a wellness philosophy that balances stillness and play. This property brings something entirely new to the region.”

Located to take full advantage of its cliffside setting, Mendocino Cove is intended for travelers seeking both relaxation and active pursuits. Whether guests arrive to unwind in the spa, explore the shoreline, play on the courts, or savor seasonal cuisine, the property aims to provide a cohesive coastal experience that reflects the landscape and community of Northern California’s Mendocino coast.
