China Airlines Next-Generation Fleet: What to Expect in 2026

In late 2014, China Airlines introduced its upgraded Boeing 777-300ER, featuring redesigned cabins, a new premium economy class, the Family Couch for enhanced comfort, an advanced in-flight entertainment system and an award-winning interior design.

Premium Business Class
China Airlines’ business class provides a private, comfortable environment with full-flat 78-inch seats. The cabin includes an intuitive control panel, 18-inch personal screens with over 100 curated programs, storage cabinets for personal items, premium amenities and a herringbone layout that balances privacy and accessibility.

The cabin’s focal point is the Sky Lounge, a communal space in the center of the business-class section where passengers can relax. The Eastern Tea Area features Taiwanese teas and light snacks, while the Western Coffee Area offers coffee and pastries. Selected Chinese and English books are rotated monthly for passengers to enjoy.

Premium Economy
The new premium economy cabin on the 777-300ER offers a 39-inch seat pitch at a reasonable fare. Seats use a fixed backshell and front-sliding mechanism, combined with adjustable leg rests to improve comfort, support and personal space.

Premium economy passengers receive extra amenities such as an amenity kit, dedicated meal options and a larger baggage allowance, while paying fares only slightly higher than economy. Additional conveniences include tablet storage compartments and larger tray tables. Each seat is equipped with a 12-inch personal entertainment screen.

Family Couch
The enhanced economy cabin features the Family Couch, an innovative seating arrangement that converts three adjacent seats into a single sofa bed. A specially designed footrest that raises 90 degrees creates a flat surface, allowing families or couples to lie back comfortably on long-haul flights. The Family Couch is supplied with a mattress, pillows, blankets and specially designed seatbelts for added comfort and safety.

Enhanced In-Flight Entertainment
China Airlines equips the 777-300ER with the Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system, offering a multi-touch interface, an 18-inch screen for business class, movies, music, games and more. The My Favorite feature lets passengers save programs to resume viewing after a rest or meal.

A standout feature is the social Seat Chat function, which enables passengers to message one another, share favorites and connect during the flight. The system also provides duty-free shopping, e-magazines, news updates and digital menus. Both complimentary and paid Wi-Fi options are available on select flights.

Award-Winning Design
China Airlines’ 777 NexGen cabin won the 2015 Red Dot Design Award, earning the Best of the Best distinction. The award recognized the cabin’s innovation, functionality, ergonomics, environmental consideration and emotional appeal. The distinction highlights the airline’s focus on thoughtful, passenger-centered design.

New Uniforms
Alongside the cabin refresh, China Airlines unveiled new uniforms designed by Oscar-nominated William Chang. The collection blends traditional Mandarin elements with contemporary Western tailoring using bold color blocks in red, violet, white and blue-gray. Multiple color combinations are available for both male and female crew members.

For additional visuals and a virtual walkthrough of the updated interior, China Airlines offers an online 360-degree tour of the aircraft.
