Great news for gin lovers: British Airways is launching a bespoke gin exclusively for its first-class passengers. The spirit is a proprietary blend developed after extensive taste testing in the Concorde Room bar in London and crafted by the Cambridge Distillery.
In addition to the classic juniper, this gin features rosemary and thyme grown in the distillery’s own gardens in Cambridge. British Airways reports it serves around 3 million gin and tonics on board each year, making a dedicated house gin a natural fit for its premium service.
“We take great care in producing our gins. For British Airways we harvested basil, rosemary and thyme from our gardens and distilled each botanical separately to ensure the distillation temperature suited each ingredient,” said William Lowe, master distiller and owner of Cambridge Distillery. “We then blended them carefully to create British Airways Gin. Each bottle is labeled with the British Airways Speedmarque and wax-sealed by hand here in Cambridge to create a genuinely unique product.”
