British Airways Launches New Nonstop Flights from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to London Gatwick (LGW)

British Airways has launched a new nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) in Broward County and London Gatwick (LGW), beginning July 6, 2017. With this addition, British Airways expands its Florida network — already serving Miami (MIA), Tampa (TPA) and Orlando (MCO) — and will offer more direct seats between Florida and London than any other carrier. The new link gives travelers greater choice of airports, schedules and onward connections to suit both business and leisure needs.

The route operates on a Boeing 777-200 and will run three times weekly, increasing to four flights per week during the peak summer season. Economy-class fares on launch were advertised from $715 round-trip. The aircraft accommodates 275 passengers across three cabins: 48 seats in business class, 24 in premium economy and 203 in economy. All cabins feature modern interiors and individual on-demand inflight entertainment. Passengers receive complimentary meals, snacks and beverages, plus access to a full-service bar. Generous baggage allowances are provided to benefit both holidaymakers and business travelers.

Colm Lacy, head of commercial for Gatwick at British Airways, commented on the new link: “We are excited to be adding Fort Lauderdale to our network. As a city with beautiful beaches, an international yachting scene and easy access to cruises, we expect British visitors will want to experience what it has to offer. The proximity to Miami also provides businesses and holidaymakers with added flexibility when planning their travel.”

Flight timings are scheduled to maximize convenience for connections and leisure itineraries. BA2169 departs London Gatwick at 9:25 a.m. and arrives at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport at 1:45 p.m. BA2168 leaves Fort Lauderdale at 5:00 p.m., arriving into Gatwick the following morning at 6:30 a.m.

This new service strengthens transatlantic connectivity between South Florida and the U.K., offering travelers more direct options and competitive schedules. Whether passengers are flying for business, visiting family, embarking on a cruise or enjoying a beach holiday, the Fort Lauderdale–Gatwick route provides an additional nonstop choice with full onboard amenities and a familiar carrier experience.
