Starting July 1, passengers on British Airways flights have a new option on the wine list: the airline’s own English sparkling wine, launched to mark its centennial. Developed in partnership with Hattingley Valley, the exclusive 2015 Blanc de Noir was crafted with in-flight conditions in mind and was harvested and bottled in Hampshire.
The wine is being served in First and is also available in The Concorde Room at Heathrow Airport Terminal 5.
“There’s no better, or more British, way to celebrate our milestone year than with an English sparkling wine,” said Kelly Stevenson, British Airways’ wine and beverage manager. “We’ve enjoyed working with Hattingley Valley to create something special for our First customers. This is the first time we’ve served an English sparkling Blanc de Noirs on board. The blend performs well at altitude: notes of red apple skin and delicate red fruits really come through.”
Emma Rice, director and head winemaker at Hattingley Valley, added that English sparkling wine has grown hugely popular worldwide. “We’re delighted to partner with British Airways to produce an exceptional wine that passengers can enjoy both on the ground and in the air across their network.”
