BMW’s car-sharing service ReachNow in Seattle and Portland is launching the Wild Within Reach campaign to make visiting state parks easier and more affordable for urban residents. The program places free park passes in ReachNow vehicles and provides additional benefits that encourage members to get outdoors.
ReachNow operates a fleet of more than 1,300 BMW and MINI cars available on demand in Seattle, Portland and Brooklyn. For the Wild Within Reach promotion in the Pacific Northwest, each participating vehicle carries a complimentary state park pass so riders can drive directly from the city to nearby natural areas without needing to plan ahead.
“With more and more people in urban areas forgoing car ownership to avoid traffic and parking headaches, getting outside the city has become a greater challenge,” said Laura Gonia, head of marketing at ReachNow. “ReachNow members can find a car within walking distance and take a road trip without the need to plan ahead. We’re thrilled to take a more active role in getting people outdoors while also helping to preserve our state parks for generations to come.”
As an extra incentive, ReachNow members can receive a $10 promo code by sharing their park visits on Instagram, tagging @reachnow and using the hashtag #WildWithinReach. The campaign is designed to be simple and shareable, encouraging spontaneous trips and increasing awareness of regional parks.
State parks organizations expressed appreciation for the partnership. “We’re so grateful that ReachNow is providing transportation solutions to let more people experience the wonder and beauty of our spectacular state parks,” said John Floberg, executive director of the Washington State Parks Foundation. “With more than 120 parks across the state, there’s a staggering variety of natural, cultural and historical sites to visit and the donations ReachNow makes for each trip will help ensure that our parks will remain destinations of choice.”
To support those parks, BMW will donate $30 to either the Washington or Oregon State Parks Foundations for every trip to a national or state park taken through the program this year, up to a combined total of $25,000. The contribution aims to help maintain and improve park facilities and preserve natural and cultural resources for future visitors.
“We are thrilled to be working with ReachNow on their Wild Within Reach program,” said Seth Miller, executive director of the Oregon State Parks Foundation. “Accessibility and transportation are major priorities for us; we want everyone to be able to enjoy the Oregon State Parks system. This partnership will help provide more outdoor recreation opportunities for ReachNow’s membership.”
By combining convenient, on-demand vehicles with easy access to park passes and an added donation program, ReachNow’s Wild Within Reach campaign seeks to lower barriers for city dwellers who want to experience nearby wilderness, beaches, forests and historical sites. The effort highlights how mobility services can support outdoor recreation and conservation while helping people discover the natural areas within reach of their communities.
