Award-winning safari lodge Angama Mara reopens to international travelers, including U.S. passport holders, on Aug. 1.
Perched on the Oloololo Escarpment overlooking the Maasai Mara in Kenya, Angama Mara welcomes guests following the restart of domestic flights on July 15. The property comprises two camps, each featuring 15 tented guest suites with generous private indoor and outdoor areas designed for comfort and privacy.

Arriving in September is a new exclusive option, Angama Safari Camp, a sole-use mobile camp located in the southwestern Mara Triangle. The camp comprises four tents and accommodates up to eight guests, offering a private, socially distanced experience immersed in resident wildlife. It is ideal for travelers seeking seclusion while enjoying guided game drives and personalized service.

To protect guests and staff in a post-COVID-19 environment, Angama has implemented enhanced health and safety procedures. Measures at arrival include a contactless welcome, temperature screening, COVID-19 welcome kits and luggage sanitization. The team performs deep cleaning of guest tents and communal areas throughout the day, offers socially distanced dining and optional in-tent meals, and provides access to an on-call medical professional for emergencies and health concerns. The property has produced a short video outlining these protocols.

International travel options to Kenya include flights from the United States with connections in Europe. Kenya Airways plans to resume nonstop service between New York (JFK) and Nairobi (NBO) in October. Maasai Mara is approximately a 45-minute flight from Nairobi, with regional transfers available to the camp.
