Amingiri Spa Maldives: Luxurious Wellness Retreat by the Sea

A gentle breeze tangles my hair and the sun warms my skin as I stroll across a bridge above clear, cerulean water that sparkles in the daylight. A hush of calm surrounds me, and the stresses of daily life and long travel melt away. I arrive relaxed at Amingiri Spa’s open-air reception at Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa. After check-in, my spa attendant guides me over another bridge into the overwater bungalow where my treatment will take place.

Instead of a communal changing room or locker area, the spa offers private bungalow facilities for the duration of each treatment. My space includes a private shower and an open-air treatment room that appears to merge with the Indian Ocean. During the Ancient Healing Massage, I notice a glass panel beneath the face rest and catch sight of a fish gliding by. I close my eyes and let body, mind and spirit sink deeper into relaxation.

When the treatment ends, I’m invited to continue my calm in the spa’s lounge—another open-air area with uninterrupted ocean views stretching to the horizon. I breathe in the warm breeze, sip a cup of tea and daydream about returning with my husband and our miniature schnauzer, or more realistically, booking my next spa visit. I schedule a hammam ritual before heading back to my luxurious overwater pool villa to preserve the post-treatment serenity.

Amingiri Spa extends wellness beyond the treatment villas with offerings that include sunrise yoga, in-villa bath rituals and visits from holistic practitioners such as acupuncturists and wellness coaches. A 24-hour fitness center is available for guests who want to maintain an active routine.

This month the spa debuts a sleep wellness menu, featuring a 90-minute Hammam Evening Ritual available from 7–9 p.m. The ritual includes a traditional deep exfoliation with black soap and a kessa glove, a soothing foam massage and a finishing application of argan oil. Guests can choose the 75-minute Under the Skye treatment, available 7–8:30 p.m., selecting one of the spa’s signature massages to tailor their evening relaxation. Enchanted Night is a three-step offering with a warm foot soak, balancing massage and facial cleansing, followed by Sleep Tea. Warm Evenings is a two-step sequence featuring a warm foot soak in orange blossom water and a hot stone full-body massage, ending with Cleanse Tea. Moonlight Relief combines a warm foot soak and a deep-tissue massage using a muscle balm blended with the guest’s chosen aromatherapy, finishing with Cleanse Tea.

The sleep wellness menu also includes an in-villa option called Rest & Relaxation, offered from 6:30–8 p.m. Thirty-minute Rest treatments provide gentle massage choices, personalized stretching and sleep-inducing facials. Fifteen-minute Relaxation options deliver guided meditations, targeted yoga for better sleep and calming breathwork designed to quiet the mind and relax the body.

Situated on its own tropical island in the North Malé Atoll, the resort is a 20-minute luxury speedboat ride from Malé-Velana International Airport. Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa emphasizes health, wellness and sustainability. Each villa is equipped with two bicycles for exploring the island, which is easily walkable. The on-site dive center arranges snorkeling and scuba trips that offer tranquil underwater experiences and a chance to connect with marine life.

Dining options at the resort include multinational vegan and vegetarian dishes across eight restaurants, bars and lounges. Highlights include Origin, an overwater fine-dining restaurant ideal for dining beneath the Maldivian night sky, and Sip Tea Lounge, which celebrates global tea cultures and serves tea-based cocktails as well as sparkling teas.

The resort also offers hands-on experiences such as a sustainable cocktail mixology course and a kombucha workshop at the property’s Aura Cocktail Lab, the first of its kind in the Maldives. The kombucha workshop showcases the resort’s commitment to reducing food waste by fermenting fruit peels and rinds that would otherwise be discarded, transforming them into refreshing, healthful drinks to enjoy at Amingiri Spa.
