American Airlines Expands LAX Routes with New Destinations

American Airlines is expanding its Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) network with nine new routes announced for this year. Alongside service that began April 2 between Los Angeles and Raleigh/Durham, N.C. (RDU), the carrier will introduce seven additional domestic routes and one international flight to Brazil.

Beginning June 12, American will launch flights to two Oregon cities: Eugene (EUG) and Redmond (RDM). These routes will be operated by SkyWest Airlines. Later in the summer, on August 27, American will add service to five more U.S. destinations: Pittsburgh, Pa. (PIT); Indianapolis, Ind. (IND); Columbus, Ohio (CMH); Hartford, Conn. (BDL); and Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport in Bentonville, Ark. (XNA). Service to Bentonville will be flown by American Eagle Airlines.

Subject to government approval, American also plans to increase its Brazil frequencies with a new daily flight to São Paulo (GRU) starting November 21. Once all of the announced routes are in place, American will operate flights from LAX to 51 domestic and international destinations, strengthening its Los Angeles hub and offering travelers more nonstop options.
