American Airlines has unveiled 18 new routes for summer 2019, and fares are now available for purchase. The additions expand the carrier’s domestic and international network, offering more options for leisure and connecting travelers.
Among the launches is a new destination for the airline: Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) in Kalispell, Montana. American will link Kalispell with three major hubs — Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD) — creating new leisure and connection opportunities for both visitors and local residents.
The schedule also includes the carrier’s return to Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ), restoring service from Philadelphia (PHL) and New York LaGuardia (LGA). Several other new routes originate from Dallas/Fort Worth, including nonstop service to San Luis Obispo County, California (SBP); Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (MYR); Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (MDT); and Santa Rosa, California (STS).
In addition to domestic growth, American is expanding summer international service from Dallas with new or additional flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Madrid Barajas (MAD) beginning in June. These transatlantic frequencies are intended to enhance options for leisure travelers and to improve connectivity with partner networks.
“With 18 new routes, we are committed to providing the most choices for our customers across the U.S. and a chance to see the world,” said Vasu Raja, vice president of network and schedule planning at American Airlines. He noted that service to Kalispell opens an attractive destination for customers and creates new connection possibilities through LAX, ORD and DFW for local travelers.
Raja added that many of the additional flights were scheduled to increase flexibility for travelers, offering later departures from DFW and CDG. For Madrid, the timing is designed to provide strong connectivity to Iberia’s network from larger U.S. and international markets such as Sacramento, California (SMF); Reno, Nevada (RNO); and Guadalajara, Mexico (GDL).
The 18-route expansion reflects American Airlines’ broader summer strategy to balance demand for leisure travel with enhanced global connections. Travelers interested in these routes can check availability and book through the airline’s website or their preferred booking channels. As always, schedules and routes remain subject to change, so passengers should confirm details before planning travel.
