Alex Katz Spotlight: Langham Place Honors Native New York Artist

Langham Place, New York, Fifth Avenue is celebrating the vibrant, stylized work of artist Alex Katz with a special promotion tied to the hotel’s permanent collection and Katz’s current presentation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Available through June 26, The Artful Escape package invites guests to experience Katz’s distinctive aesthetic with an overnight stay plus two tickets to the Met. The offer is designed for a minimum two-night stay and starts from $1,100.

Guests who book the package stay in one of Langham Place’s oversized rooms, which feature The DUX Bed, marble-clad bathrooms with soaking tubs and separate rainfall showers, and dramatic city skyline views. The package also includes daily breakfast for two and a curated in-room amenity prepared by the hotel’s culinary team.

Alongside the comforts of the guestroom and views of Manhattan, the package provides two complimentary passes to the Met so visitors can explore the museum’s exhibitions, including the Alex Katz presentation. That show spans nearly the full arc of Katz’s career and includes drawings, paintings and prints. Highlights on display include two of Katz’s early cutouts—an innovative format he developed in the late 1950s—a striking cityscape, multiple portraits of Ada Katz (his wife and longtime muse), and depictions of notable figures from his social and artistic circle.

Born in Brooklyn in 1927, Katz is recognized as one of the most prominent artists of his generation, according to the Met. After a recent renovation, Langham Place curated an exclusive collection of Katz works throughout the hotel. Original paintings, lithographs and block prints are installed in public spaces and guest areas, integrating the artist’s bold, pared-down compositions with the property’s refined interiors.

“I chose Alex Katz’s work to be featured exclusively at Langham Place, New York because it best embodies the liveliness of New York City,” said Dr. K.S. Lo, chairman of Langham Hospitality Group. “From the time we purchased the hotel, I knew Alex Katz was the perfect artist to be affiliated with the property. His work exudes sophistication and prominently features the kind of personalities that are acutely representative of our guests.”

Visitors interested in combining a New York City stay with an immersive art experience can take advantage of The Artful Escape to enjoy both the hotel’s hospitality and direct access to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Alex Katz exhibition.
