EL AL Israel Airlines and Alaska Airlines have expanded their partnership with a broadened frequent-flyer agreement, adding to a recently announced codeshare arrangement.
The enhanced relationship makes it easier for travelers to connect between North America and Israel on either carrier. Members of both airlines’ loyalty programs can now earn miles when flying with the partner airline, providing greater flexibility and more options for accruing rewards.
EL AL currently operates three weekly flights between Tel Aviv (TLV) and San Francisco (SFO) using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner configured with economy, premium and business classes. Westbound flights depart Tel Aviv on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1:05 a.m. and arrive in San Francisco the same day at 6:00 a.m., with an approximate flight time of 15 hours. Return service from San Francisco to Tel Aviv runs on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, with evening departures from San Francisco.
Gonen Usishkin, CEO of EL AL, described the agreement as a milestone for the carrier. He highlighted that the new service links two major technology hubs while offering customers increased travel options through the expanded codeshare and frequent-flyer cooperation with Alaska Airlines. Usishkin also noted Alaska Airlines’ historical role in supporting Jewish immigration to Israel and praised the airline as a continued partner in strengthening ties between the United States and Israel.
Passengers benefit from smoother connections and more seamless mileage accrual across both programs, making transatlantic travel and long-haul connections more convenient for business and leisure travelers alike. The partnerships also create more routing choices, allowing travelers to select schedules, cabin classes and loyalty benefits that best match their needs.
