According to data compiled by AirlineRatings.com, a site that evaluates and reports on airline products and safety, Air New Zealand was named Airline of the Year for 2018.
This marks the fifth time Air New Zealand has earned the top spot—more than any of the world’s 435 carriers. The award recognizes airlines that excel in on-time performance, in-flight amenities and innovation, operational safety, and environmental stewardship. Editors base their rankings on government audits and safety inspections, passenger reviews, financial results, employee satisfaction, and the quality of products and services. In 2018, Air New Zealand scored highly across most of these measures.
Following Air New Zealand in the rankings were Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Virgin Australia, Virgin Atlantic, and Etihad Airways.
Air New Zealand operates an extensive network connecting New Zealand’s islands with Australia, North America, South America, Asia, and the United Kingdom, serving a significant share of international travelers.
