airBaltic Launches New York Connections: New Routes & Timetables

airBaltic passengers traveling between New York (JFK) and Riga (RIX) now have smoother connections to airports across the Baltic region after the Latvian airline expanded its codeshare partnership with Uzbekistan Airways.

“This summer, airBaltic has enhanced its schedule and services from airports around the Baltic Sea by adding new routes and strengthening existing partnerships,” said Christophe Viatte, chief commercial officer at airBaltic. “We are particularly pleased to extend our codeshare agreement with Uzbekistan Airways, enabling customers from the Baltic region and beyond to reach the global hub of fashion, finance, culture and art — New York City.”

Under the expanded agreement, passengers can travel twice weekly on Uzbekistan Airways’ Boeing 767 flights between New York and Riga. From Riga, airBaltic will operate the onward connections to a wide selection of airports around the Baltic Sea, simplifying travel for those heading to or from the region.

Based at Riga, airBaltic currently serves more than 60 destinations, providing convenient links across Europe, Scandinavia, Russia and the Middle East. Recent additions to its network include Tallinn (TLL) and Vilnius (VNO), with service to the Baltic seaside resort of Heringsdorf (HDF) planned soon.

This codeshare expansion improves connectivity for both business and leisure travelers, offering seamless ticketing and coordinated schedules that reduce transfer times and make international travel more convenient. By combining long-haul capacity from Uzbekistan Airways with airBaltic’s regional network, travelers benefit from broader route choices and simplified transfer procedures at Riga.

Passengers booking travel between New York and any Baltic destination can now select itineraries that pair Uzbekistan Airways’ transatlantic flights with airBaltic’s regional segments. The joint operation supports luggage through-checking and coordinated customer service, subject to the carriers’ standard terms and conditions.

As airBaltic continues to grow its route map from Riga, the carrier is focusing on improving connections and increasing frequency on strategic corridors. Expanding partnerships like the one with Uzbekistan Airways helps the airline offer more direct, efficient travel options between the Baltics and major global hubs.
