Internationally acclaimed design studio Baranowitz + Kronenberg has unveiled its latest European hospitality project, MR PORTER London, developed in collaboration with The Entourage Group. Situated beneath the Hilton Park Lane in Mayfair, the 2,297-square-foot restaurant reinterprets the modern steakhouse with a design inspired by the Tyburn River, the hidden watercourse that runs beneath central London.
MR PORTER London – Steakhouse Bar & Lounge offers more than dining; it presents an immersive, cinematic descent from street level into a deliberately hushed and intimate environment. A single copper door marks the entrance. Inside, a monochrome foyer and a spiral staircase lead guests down into a world that leaves the city’s logic behind. Taking the Tyburn River as its poetic reference, the design transforms the subterranean setting into a space shaped by absence, depth and reflection.

The central design element is a ceiling clad in mirror-polished copper panels that creates a striking illusion of endlessness, visually folding the room to feel like two overlapping spaces. Beneath this reflective canopy, a rich material palette of brushed metals, velvet upholstery, natural stone and carefully placed lighting produces a warm, tactile atmosphere. The main dining room is layered with brass, copper and gold tones that work in concert to generate a soft, luminous glow. These finishes are calibrated to soothe the eye and subtly blur the room’s boundaries, while the mirror-finish ceiling amplifies vertical space and transforms architecture into atmosphere.
At the room’s core sits a 360-degree bar designed for intimacy and social interaction. Seating is configured to suit a range of moods: plush velvet benches and cushions paired with stone accents provide comfort while maintaining a sense of enclosure. Across the restaurant, materials and color harmonies reflect Baranowitz + Kronenberg’s belief that architecture should evoke feeling before commanding admiration. Sound design is integral: a high-fidelity audio system and curated live DJ programming reinforce the venue’s tempo and complement the visual experience.

MR PORTER London playfully reimagines the traditional steakhouse, presenting what the designers describe as a “ladies’ steakhouse”: a lighter, more refined interpretation that emphasizes elegance and restraint. The menu complements the concept with focused offerings that match the restaurant’s contemporary character.
Baranowitz + Kronenberg’s international portfolio has earned them recognition for creating narrative-rich environments that resonate across cultures. Their past hospitality projects include the Sir Joan Hotel in Ibiza, The W Amsterdam, and the original MR PORTER in Amsterdam. The studio’s strength lies in translating context and history into immersive experiences, a quality that continues to attract collaborations with leading hospitality and lifestyle brands.

“As a creative concept developer, I envision and feel the places I design before they actually exist. I always create places that suit the locals but try to offer them something new at the same time. It is extremely important to get to know the market; you cannot ignore a city and its people’s heritage. I love to develop something from the roots and pay attention to every tiny detail. Every aspect has to be captured by the same language. I am not creating restaurants, I am creating experiences,” said Yossi Eliyahoo, founder and co-owner of The Entourage Group.
