We’re planning beach days this summer and, later in the year, our fourth hosted cruise. This fall we’ll sail with Transcend Cruises aboard the elegant Transcend Connect, touring Europe from Frankfurt to Brussels. Readers are welcome to join us; a solo rate is available. We’re especially excited to visit Germany’s Christmas markets on this itinerary.

Congratulations to the airlines that joined us for this year’s Wines on the Wing, held last month at The Ned NoMad in New York. Twenty judges conducted a blind tasting of notable wines served in business, first, and premium economy cabins. Securing those wines proved challenging: while some shipments cleared smoothly, other bottles were delayed in Customs despite having the proper Certificate of Label Approval documentation. We found that the most reliable method was individual transport; Global Traveler staff escorted wine shipments from Miami, London, and Los Angeles.
The judging ran from 2:00–4:30 p.m., followed by the Wines on the Wing afterparty at 6:00 p.m. The afterparty offers subscribers, clients, and friends the chance to sample the airline selections in an open, festive atmosphere, exploring bottles and tasting notes from each carrier. This celebration of airline wines is unique in the United States.
