Exclusive Menorca Island Luxury Resort Stay — Top Seaside Escape

Villa Le Blanc, a 5-star, 159-room luxury resort operated by Gran Meliá on Menorca Island, is among Meliá Hotels International’s most environmentally mindful properties. Opened this year, the hotel is the island’s sole member of Leading Hotels of the World. Situated on Santo Tomás Beach, the resort offers an ideal base for exploring Menorca’s cultural and natural attractions in the Balearic archipelago.

Designed and renovated from the former Sol Beach House Hotel by architect Álvaro Sans, Villa Le Blanc emphasizes energy efficiency and carbon neutrality while respecting Menorca’s status as a UNESCO-declared Biosphere Reserve. The redesign blends contemporary minimalism with luxurious details, using a predominantly white-and-blue palette, expansive terraces and porches that echo Mediterranean island architecture. The use of local white stone and traditional tiles helps the resort sit naturally within the island’s south coast landscape while providing practical climate benefits.

“Villa Le Blanc Gran Meliá is inspired by the vernacular architecture of the island villages,” said Álvaro Sans of ASAH studio. “We highlight Menorcan arches and the whitewashed walls characteristic of local houses. From a technical perspective, we reclaimed the traditional use of tiles—historically painted white in Menorca to reflect heat in summer and withstand rainy winters.”

All 159 guestrooms are designed to complement the natural Menorcan surroundings and include private balconies with views over the town or the sea. The accommodation collection features 45 suites, many offering elevated amenities such as private plunge pools and secluded rooftop terraces with Mediterranean panoramas.

“Villa Le Blanc is a dream come true for our company,” said Gabriel Escarrer, vice president and CEO of Meliá. “This project advances our hotel decarbonization goals and sits in the heart of Menorca’s Biosphere Reserve, demonstrating our commitment to excellence, responsibility, and sustainability.”

Dining at the resort centers on fresh island ingredients sourced from local farms and fisheries. On the first-floor terrace overlooking the Mediterranean, S’Amarador is a standout seafood restaurant known for rice dishes, seafood bisques and daily catches from the local market, with special attention to the Balearic Sea’s red lobster.

Chef-restaurateur Joan Canals leads Cru, a restaurant that celebrates Menorcan flavors by combining freshly caught fish and shellfish with the island’s vegetables and olive oils, presented with contemporary techniques and refined plating.
