Princess Cruises teamed with Wakefield Research to survey U.S. adults about their Valentine’s Day hopes and preferences.
The survey found that a vacation as a Valentine’s gift was chosen twice as often as traditional presents like flowers, jewelry and chocolate. When asked about preferred destinations, more than half (55 percent) said they would pick the Caribbean.
Princess celebrity ambassador Gavin MacLeod said he wasn’t surprised by the strong preference for the Caribbean. “It’s always been a favorite destination of guests and the celebrities who came aboard for [The Dreamboat]. But there is nothing more romantic than a Princess cruise — no matter where you sail!” he said.
Beyond travel preferences, the survey asked lighthearted questions about celebrity double dates. The most popular choice was former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama, followed by country stars Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani.
To celebrate Valentine’s Day, Princess Cruises highlights a range of romantic offerings designed for couples. Options include private balcony breakfasts and dinners, adults-only cabanas, couple’s spa treatments, curated wine-and-chocolate pairings, and Movies Under the Stars on the top deck. These amenities are intended to create intimate moments and memorable experiences for guests celebrating together.
Choosing a cruise for Valentine’s Day appeals to travelers looking for a mix of relaxation, destination variety and onboard romance. The Caribbean remains a top pick for its warm weather, scenic beaches and convenient itineraries, while onboard experiences—dining with a sea view, spa treatments, and evening entertainment—add a personalized touch. Whether planning a short getaway or a longer escape, the survey results suggest many Americans now view travel as a meaningful and preferred way to celebrate special occasions.
