London’s New Luxury Hotel Brand: What Travelers Should Know

glh., the London-based global hotel subsidiary of Singapore-listed GuocoLeisure Group, has launched a new upscale hotel brand called Amba in London. The brand will debut with 2,088 guestrooms across four central London properties, and plans further expansion to 30 locations across the United Kingdom and internationally, including China, the United States and Europe.

The initial Amba hotels are conversions of existing glh.-owned properties, chosen for their prime locations near London’s most prestigious landmarks. The four sites are in Marble Arch, Tower Bridge, Charing Cross and Buckingham Palace Road, with the Buckingham Palace Road hotel scheduled to be the first to open in 2014.

Amba aims to blend excellent locations with warm, intuitive service and contemporary technology to serve both business and leisure travelers. The brand’s focus is on delivering a personal and authentic experience from booking through check-out, helping guests feel refreshed and recharged. Colin Roy, chief marketing officer of glh., emphasized that Amba hotels will prioritize genuine hospitality combined with practical, guest-focused amenities.

The launch reflects glh.’s strategy to grow its presence in key city centers by rebranding and enhancing existing assets rather than building entirely new hotels. By leveraging established properties in high-demand areas, Amba seeks to provide convenient, well-located accommodation with an elevated, approachable style.

Amba’s early rollout in London positions the brand to appeal to travelers seeking centrally located hotels that balance modern comforts with friendly service. With plans to scale to multiple cities domestically and abroad, the brand is positioned to become a recognizable option for travelers who value location, service quality and streamlined technology during their stays.
