Volaris has announced a new international service connecting Durango, Mexico, with Chicago, United States. Beginning December 8, the airline will operate flights twice weekly between General Guadalupe Victoria International Airport in Durango and Chicago’s Midway Airport. This route represents the first international service available from Durango, expanding travel options for the city’s residents.
Holger Blankenstein, Volaris’ commercial director, emphasized the airline’s commitment to making travel accessible: “Our goal is for everyone to travel and for Durango residents to have the possibility of visiting family and friends in the U.S. at affordable fares.”
The new service aims to improve connectivity for Durango by providing direct access to the Chicago area, supporting both leisure and family visits as well as potential business travel. Operating twice weekly, the flights will offer a convenient option for passengers who previously needed to make connections or travel to other cities to reach the United States.
By introducing the first international route from Durango, Volaris reinforces its strategy of expanding regional connectivity and opening new markets. This development is likely to benefit the local tourism sector and enhance ties between communities on both sides of the border. Travelers can expect standard Volaris onboard services and the carrier’s focus on competitive pricing.
As always, schedules and frequencies are subject to change. Travelers planning to use the new Durango–Chicago service should confirm flight times, baggage policies, and any travel requirements with Volaris prior to booking and departure.
