British Airways i360 opened earlier this month as the world’s tallest moving observation tower. Designed by the creators of the London Eye, it stands on the Brighton seafront, one of the most visited destinations in the southeast United Kingdom after London. The attraction lifts visitors in a large enclosed glass viewing pod to a height of 450 feet, offering panoramic views of Brighton, Hove and the southern coastline.
The glass viewing pod is ten times the size of a single London Eye capsule and can carry up to 200 passengers. It ascends a slim steel tower, giving guests uninterrupted vistas across the city and out over the English Channel. According to Marks Barfield Architects, the team behind the design, the experience is intended to showcase Brighton’s coastline and skyline from a unique elevated perspective.
Daytime rides last approximately 20 minutes. In the evening, the pod operates for about 30 minutes and transforms into a sky bar, creating a relaxed atmosphere for enjoying sunset views and nighttime lights. Ticket prices are set at £13.50. Current opening hours are 10 a.m.–10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10 a.m.–11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Lynne Embleton, director of strategy at British Airways, highlighted the company’s local connections: “Brighton is home to thousands of our customers and colleagues and we fly to more than 65 destinations across the globe from Gatwick, so we are delighted to be involved in this exciting attraction that we know UK and international visitors will love.”
