Apple has expanded the Maps app for iPhone with updated indoor maps for a growing list of airport terminals. The beta of the latest operating system already includes detailed terminal maps for San Jose International (SJC) and Philadelphia International (PHL), while the full release adds several more major U.S. airports. These updates aim to make navigating terminals easier by showing layouts, security checkpoint locations, gate positions and points of interest such as restaurants, shops and nearby hotels.
In the full release, terminal maps are available for:
- Oakland International (OAK)
- Miami International (MIA)
- Minneapolis–St. Paul International (MSP)
- Baltimore–Washington International (BWI)
- Portland International (PDX)
- Harry Reid International, Las Vegas (LAS)
- Chicago O’Hare International (ORD)
- Chicago Midway International (MDW)
Each airport map provides clear terminal floor plans and highlights key features travelers need: security checkpoints, gate numbers, concourse connections and the location of services such as restrooms and baggage claim. Retail and dining locations are labeled to help users find food, shopping and lounge options quickly. The Maps app’s airport views are designed to reduce stress on travel days by offering an indoor mapping experience similar to street-level directions.
Apple has also indicated plans to continue expanding airport coverage. In the short term, the company expects to add more than twenty additional global and regional airports. New additions planned include a mix of international hubs and regional airports across North America, Europe and Asia, reflecting a broad push to support travelers worldwide.
The upcoming airports set to receive terminal maps include:
- Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS)
- Berlin airports (TXL, SXF)
- Denver International (DEN)
- Detroit Metropolitan (DTW)
- Doha Hamad International (DOH)
- Dubai International (DXB)
- Geneva (GVA)
- Hong Kong International (HKG)
- Houston airports (HOU, IAH)
- Indianapolis International (IND)
- Jacksonville International (JAX)
- London Heathrow and Gatwick (LHR, LGW)
- Los Angeles area airports (LAX, SNA)
- Nashville International (BNA)
- New York airports (JFK, LGA)
- Newark Liberty (EWR)
- Pittsburgh International (PIT)
- San Diego International (SAN)
- Seattle–Tacoma International (SEA)
- Toronto Pearson (YYZ)
- Vancouver (YVR)
These additions will provide consistent indoor mapping features across a wide range of airports, helping both frequent flyers and occasional travelers. With labeled services and clear gate and security information, the Maps app’s airport maps can speed up route planning inside terminals and make it easier to find amenities without relying on printed maps or asking staff for directions.
As Apple rolls out these updates, users should ensure their iPhone is running the latest version of iOS to access the newest airport maps. The maps are integrated into the existing Maps app experience, so familiar search and navigation tools work the same way when locating gates, restaurants and other points of interest inside terminals. Continued expansion of airport coverage will further improve travel convenience and support seamless navigation from curb to gate.
