Etihad Airways will begin a new non-stop international service between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (AUH). The route launches on December 3, 2014, with flights operating three times weekly. Etihad will operate the service using a Boeing 777-200LR configured in three classes to accommodate business, premium, and economy travelers.
As one of Etihad’s key long-haul additions to the U.S. market, the new DFW–Abu Dhabi connection strengthens links between North Texas and the Middle East. James Hogan, President and CEO of Etihad Airways, noted that the United States remains one of the airline’s most important global markets and welcomed DFW as a strategic addition to Etihad’s transcontinental network.
The Etihad route complements DFW’s recent international growth. Over the past three years the airport has expanded its global footprint with 23 new international services and 10 new airline partners, reflecting strong demand for direct connections across continents. Dallas/Fort Worth continues to develop as a major gateway for both business travel and tourism, offering convenient connections to destinations across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Sean Donohue, CEO of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, emphasized that the new Etihad service highlights the region’s expanding role in global commerce and leisure travel. A world-class airport infrastructure and ongoing route development help attract international carriers and foster economic ties.
The three-times-weekly schedule and the Boeing 777-200LR’s long-range capability will provide passengers with a comfortable, direct option between the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and Abu Dhabi. Travelers will benefit from Etihad’s onboard product across its three cabins, as well as convenient onward connections from Abu Dhabi to cities across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and beyond.
This service launch is part of a broader trend of increasing long-haul connectivity at U.S. gateway airports, offering more choices for international travelers and strengthening business and tourism links between regions. Passengers planning travel to or from the Dallas/Fort Worth area can expect enhanced options for nonstop travel to the United Arab Emirates starting in December 2014.
