Sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean from the Hotel Shangri-La’s rooftop provided an ideal setting for Global Traveler’s second annual Leisure Travel Awards celebration. Built in 1939 at the close of the Art Deco era, the hotel is a standout example of Santa Monica’s Streamline Moderne architecture. A recent $30 million renovation preserved the building’s historic character while updating its facilities, making it an elegant venue to honor the finest in leisure travel. Co-sponsored by LATAM, the event celebrated the 2014 award winners with themed cuisine, a lively atmosphere and a breathtaking sunset.
