Finnair Expands Service with New Tokyo and Hong Kong Flights

Finnair, Finland’s flag carrier, will increase frequencies on its Helsinki (HEL) to Tokyo Narita (NRT) and Helsinki to Hong Kong (HKG) routes for the summer 2017 season. The extra services will be operated with Airbus A350 aircraft, enhancing capacity and comfort on both long-haul routes.

On the Helsinki–Tokyo Narita route, Finnair will add four weekly flights between June 5 and October 27, 2017. Previously operated daily with Airbus A330 aircraft, the route will now include the extra A350-operated frequencies to accommodate growing demand. These additional flights form part of Finnair’s joint business cooperation with Japan Airlines, British Airways and Iberia, allowing better connectivity and schedule options for passengers across partner networks.

For Helsinki–Hong Kong, which already operates daily with an A350, Finnair plans to add three more weekly flights from June 6 through October 28, 2017. The supplementary frequencies will provide travelers with more flexibility and greater cargo capacity during the busy summer period.

Finnair currently operates seven A350 aircraft and has plans to receive four more during the following year, further strengthening its long-haul fleet. The airline has also recently increased frequencies on its London Heathrow (LHR)–Helsinki service to five weekly flights to better match rising passenger and cargo demand on that corridor.

These seasonal frequency increases aim to improve schedule options, increase cargo capacity and offer the enhanced passenger experience of the A350 across key Asian and European long-haul markets during summer 2017.
