Qatar Airways Launches New Direct Flights to Edinburgh

Qatar Airways is expanding its network with a new route between Doha (DOH) and Edinburgh (EDI). Edinburgh becomes the carrier’s third destination in the United Kingdom, joining existing services to London Heathrow (LHR) and Manchester (MAN). The new Doha–Edinburgh service will operate five times a week beginning 28 May 2014, using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft configured with 22 business class seats and 232 economy seats.

Qatar Airways currently operates a fleet of 128 aircraft serving 133 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Asia Pacific region and the Americas. In addition to the Edinburgh launch, the airline has planned further network growth, with new services that include Hangzhou, China (HGH) starting 20 December; Sharjah (SHJ) and Dubai World Central (DWC) from 1 March 2014; Philadelphia (PHL) from 2 April 2014; and Miami (MIA) from 10 June 2014.

Service levels on Qatar’s UK routes remain strong: flights to London Heathrow operate five times daily, while Manchester is served 10 times per week. The new Edinburgh connection enhances travel options between Scotland and Qatar’s global network, offering passengers improved connectivity and the carrier’s onboard amenities on the Dreamliner fleet.
