Air Seychelles will expand its fleet with the introduction of its first Airbus A320 and will enhance its international schedule with new and adjusted services starting this December. The changes include increased weekly frequencies between the Seychelles (SEZ) and Abu Dhabi (AUH), additional capacity on flights to Mauritius (MRU), and revised timings for routes serving Johannesburg (JNB), Mauritius and Paris (CDG).
Manoj Papa, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles, explained that the new two-class Airbus A320—configured with 16 business class seats and 120 economy seats—represents a key element of the airline’s growth strategy. The aircraft will provide significantly more capacity, supporting the carrier’s plans to develop and expand its international network.
Beginning December 1, Air Seychelles will increase services to Abu Dhabi from 14 to 18 flights per week. In addition, partner Etihad Airways will continue to operate three weekly return services on the same route, giving travellers a combined choice of 24 weekly flights between the Seychelles and Abu Dhabi.
Flights to Mauritius will be adjusted to depart the Seychelles in the morning on Monday, Friday and Saturday. The Saturday service will be operated by Air Seychelles’ larger Airbus A330-200 aircraft, resulting in an approximate 29 percent increase in seat capacity on that day. For Johannesburg, the airline’s three weekly services will operate on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, introducing a new weekend travel option for passengers.
These schedule enhancements and the introduction of the A320 are intended to improve connectivity, meet growing demand, and provide customers with greater flexibility across key regional and international routes.
