How have we arrived at our November issue already? It’s true that time flies — and 2022 seems to have raced by. With the year winding down, my travel schedule has picked up, and I couldn’t be more pleased. In October I returned to Chicago, the last city I visited before the pandemic paused travel, where Francis X. Gallagher and I joined Haley Fogarty for an exclusive event with United Airlines and The Peninsula Chicago. Afterward I spent a night in New York City to preview Celebrity Cruises’ newest ship, Celebrity Beyond. By the time you read this, I’m likely sailing on Viking Fjorgyn, one of Viking’s newest longships, on a roundtrip itinerary from Paris along the River Seine with stops in Normandy. Next month we’ll head to Los Angeles to celebrate the 19th GT Tested Reader Survey awards. Where will your travels take you as you wrap up 2022?

Each issue also gives me a chance to reflect on past journeys. In this edition we recap our delightful summer event in New York City celebrating the Leisure Lifestyle Awards and Wherever Awards winners — see the highlights on page 38. Writing the Spas feature on Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid, New York, brought back memories of the anniversary road trip my husband and I took in August.
Join us as we travel the globe in this issue. Our stories take you to Yerevan, Armenia; Mexico City; Victoria Falls; Doha, Qatar — just in time for the FIFA World Cup; the Greek isles; the Florida Keys; Las Vegas; Riga, Latvia; Charleston, South Carolina; Portugal; and Queenstown, New Zealand. With the World Cup drawing worldwide attention this month, we also spotlight other soccer (or fútbol) events happening around the world. Next month we’ll announce the 2022 winners of the GT Tested Reader Survey awards, including Airline of the Year, Hotel of the Year, and our Outstanding Diversity in Travel awards. We look forward to celebrating the best in travel with you.
