In celebration of its 145th anniversary, the Palmer House, a Hilton Hotel, is offering guests special amenities that honor the property’s long and storied history. Recognized as the nation’s longest continuously operating hotel since opening in 1871, Palmer House began as an extravagant wedding gift from Potter Palmer to his wife, Bertha Palmer. To mark this milestone, the hotel is presenting a limited-time package called “145 Years of History,” available on select dates through December 2016 and priced at $145 per night.
The package features a two-night stay and a selection of commemorative touches inspired by the hotel’s past, including a #Throwback 145th Anniversary brownie and two seasonal cocktails for a celebratory toast. Dining at Lockwood Restaurant will also reflect the anniversary theme: a seasonal #Throwback menu highlights dishes from Potter’s Cook Book, such as mini beef wellingtons and blue points, alongside classic cocktails like the Old Chicago Passage Maple Manhattan. Potter’s Lounge is offering Prohibition-era inspired drinks during the anniversary period, including a cider-forward cocktail named Founding Father’s Hooch.
Beginning on September 26, the hotel’s actual anniversary date, Palmer House will launch the #ThisDayinPHHistory social media series. Over the course of 145 days, the hotel will post weekly trivia questions that explore historical facts about the property. Participants who answer correctly will have a chance to win prizes such as a Lockwood Restaurant gift certificate, a complimentary spa treatment, or a free night’s stay.
