Etihad Airways is expanding its codeshare partnership with S7 Airlines for 2016, adding eight domestic destinations served from the Russian carrier’s Moscow hub. Effective 16 January 2016, Etihad will place its EY code on S7-operated flights between Moscow (DME) and Chelyabinsk (CEK), Krasnoyarsk (KJA), Novosibirsk (OVB), Novy Urengoy (NUX), Omsk (OMS), Perm (PEE), Rostov-on-Don (ROV) and Sochi (AER).
As part of the extended agreement, S7 Airlines will also place its code on Etihad services via Moscow to Abu Dhabi (AUH) and on selected onward connections across Etihad’s global network, including Sydney (SYD), Singapore (SIN), Bangkok (BKK) and Phuket (HKT). This reciprocal arrangement improves connectivity for passengers traveling between Russia and Etihad’s international destinations.
“This enhanced codeshare arrangement with S7 Airlines is in line with our strategy to strengthen existing partnerships and develop new ones,” said James Hogan, president and CEO of Etihad Airways. The codeshare expansion is designed to make booking seamless for travelers, provide more schedule options, and simplify connections between regional Russian cities and long-haul destinations served by Etihad.
The agreement benefits both carriers by broadening their combined route networks without immediately adding new aircraft or frequencies. Passengers flying from the listed Russian cities can book itineraries under a single carrier code, easing ticketing and baggage transfers when connecting through Moscow and Abu Dhabi. Likewise, travelers originating on Etihad can access more domestic Russian points through S7’s Moscow hub.
By leveraging each airline’s strengths—S7’s domestic reach within Russia and Etihad’s international long-haul network—this partnership aims to increase passenger choices, support tourism and business travel flows, and create smoother connections across markets. Customers are advised to check schedules and booking options with either airline, as codeshare flights are operated by the marketing carrier’s partner and may be subject to the operating carrier’s terms and conditions.
