The town of Salem, Massachusetts, is famous for its October celebrations, but it’s also a vibrant year‑round destination with festivals and events for every season and interest.
“Salem offers rich and diverse programming throughout the year,” said Kate Fox, executive director of Destination Salem. “Whether you want to research genealogy, celebrate the arts, dive into a documentary film, or relax at the Ice Cream Bowl, there is something for all ages and interests.”

Salem Arts Festival (June 2–4)
A multi-disciplinary celebration of creativity, the Salem Arts Festival features painting, sculpture, photography, dance, film, writing and theater. Expect staged outdoor performances, a lively street fair, indoor showcases and a juried gallery of artists’ work.
Salem Farmers’ Market (through Oct. 12)
Dating back to 1634, the Salem Farmers’ Market highlights fresh local farm products and regional specialties. The market takes place in Derby Square every Thursday from 3–7 p.m., offering a chance to shop seasonal produce and artisan goods.
North Shore Pride Parade and Festival (June 24)
Now in its fifth year, this community celebration of Pride features a parade and family-friendly festival, bringing together local businesses, faith groups and area organizations to celebrate inclusivity and unity.
Salem Heritage Days (Aug. 7–13)
A week of family fun and local tradition, Salem Heritage Days offers food, outdoor movies, live music and community activities. Highlights often include National Night Out and the popular Ice Cream Bowl, alongside performances and neighborhood events.

Salem Food Truck and Craft Beer Festival (Sept. 23–24)
A favorite for food lovers, this festival brings together top regional food trucks and a wide selection of craft beers. Come ready to sample a range of flavors and enjoy an energetic outdoor atmosphere.
Salem Haunted Happenings (Oct. 1–31)
Salem’s monthlong Halloween celebration commemorates the town’s 1692 witch trials with a packed calendar of events. Recognized as one of the world’s largest Halloween festivals, Haunted Happenings includes parades, Family Film Nights on Salem Common, guided ghost tours, costume balls, haunted houses, dark theater productions and live music for all ages.
