Dubai-based flydubai has announced plans to introduce a dedicated business-class cabin across its network, serving 60 destinations. The new cabin will include 12 business-class seats with a 42-inch seat pitch, a separate cabin crew, priority check-in and enhanced facilities at Terminal 2 of Dubai International Airport (DXB). The airline expects to receive its first aircraft configured with the business-class cabin in August, with the inaugural service planned for October.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, said the move reflects the carrier’s ongoing efforts to evolve its product and meet diverse passenger needs. He highlighted that the business-class offering will give travelers more choice, including faster check-in, roomier seating and an expanded food and beverage selection featuring internationally inspired menus during flights.
The introduction of business class marks a notable expansion of flydubai’s service proposition. For passengers, the separate cabin and dedicated crew aim to deliver a more premium, tranquil environment, while priority check-in and upgraded terminal facilities will streamline the airport experience. The 42-inch seat pitch signals a focus on comfort for those seeking additional legroom and a more relaxed journey on short- and medium-haul routes across the airline’s growing network.
Operationally, the rollout will begin as aircraft fitted with the new configuration enter service. The airline has set a clear timeline with the first retrofitted or newly delivered aircraft arriving in August and commercial flights beginning in October, allowing time to train cabin staff and finalize in-terminal enhancements at DXB Terminal 2.
Flydubai’s expansion into business class aligns with broader trends in the aviation industry where carriers refine cabin differentiation to attract higher-yield customers and improve the overall travel experience. By offering priority services, an exclusive cabin, and upgraded inflight dining, flydubai aims to appeal to business travelers and leisure passengers seeking added comfort.
As the airline prepares for the launch, travelers can expect marketing and booking updates to appear through the carrier’s official channels, and seat availability on affected routes to be reflected in booking systems once the aircraft enter service. The addition of a business-class cabin reinforces flydubai’s strategy to broaden its product offerings while maintaining the network reach that has defined its growth.
