Indian airline SpiceJet is expanding service to northeast India by deploying more of its Q400 aircraft on regional routes. From October 4, the carrier will add flights to Silchar (IXS), Gorakhpur (GOP) and Aizawl (AJL), and will introduce new sectors linking Kolkata (CCU) with Silchar–Guwahati (GAU), Aizawl–Guwahati and Gorakhpur–Delhi (DEL). From November 1, SpiceJet will also resume Kolkata–Visakhapatnam (VTZ) return services.
To promote the new connections, the airline has announced all-inclusive introductory fares for the new sectors: Rs. 2,127 for Kolkata–Aizawl and Rs. 1,899 for Aizawl–Guwahati; Rs. 3,699 for Kolkata–Silchar and Rs. 4,188 for Silchar–Guwahati; Rs. 3,210 for Kolkata–Gorakhpur and Rs. 3,335 for Gorakhpur–Delhi. The updated schedule will also add frequencies to existing routes, including direct flights on Kolkata–Bagdogra and Kolkata–Guwahati.
Shilpa Bhatia, SpiceJet senior vice president, commercial, said the expansion supports the airline’s focus on improving regional connectivity. She noted that the new aviation policy has encouraged carriers to serve under‑served markets, and that the northeast remains an important but underserved tourist region. “Our new schedule places particular emphasis on connecting key hubs across the seven sister states, and we plan to continue strengthening our presence in the market,” she added.
The route additions aim to improve access for both leisure and business travelers while strengthening links between Kolkata and northeast destinations. By using its Q400 fleet on these short-haul sectors, SpiceJet expects to offer more frequent, point‑to‑point connections that complement existing services in the region.
