Alaska Airlines and Icelandair End Codeshare Partnership

Alaska Airlines will end its mileage partnership with Icelandair effective June 1. After that date, Alaska Mileage Plan members will no longer be able to redeem miles for travel on Icelandair flights to more than two dozen destinations across Europe.

Members should note these key changes:

  • Award bookings and changes for travel on Icelandair will not be permitted using Alaska miles once the partnership ends on June 1.
  • Tickets purchased from Icelandair on or after June 1 will not earn Alaska miles.
  • Icelandair tickets purchased through May 31 will continue to earn Alaska miles. Those miles can be used for award travel until Feb. 28, 2014, subject to Alaska’s existing Mileage Plan terms and conditions.

Frequent flyers who routinely combine Alaska miles with Icelandair itineraries should review upcoming reservations and consider booking or making necessary changes before the June 1 cutoff. If you have questions about how existing tickets, mileage accrual, or award travel will be affected, check Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan partner information or contact Alaska Airlines’ customer service for the most current guidance and any applicable deadlines.
