Ancient Baths Opens Second New York City Location: What to Know

AIRE Ancient Baths opened its second New York City location on March 1, expanding its signature wellness experience for residents and visitors. Following the success of the Tribeca outpost, AIRE New York Upper East Side brings together bathing traditions inspired by Roman, Greek and Ottoman rituals.

Housed in an early 20th-century building, the Upper East Side location features six distinct baths: the Caldarium, a hot bath maintained at 104° Fahrenheit; two Tepidarium warm baths at 97° Fahrenheit; the Frigidarium, an ice bath at 50° Fahrenheit; and a Balneum jet bath. Together these elements are designed to alternate heat and cold for restorative circulation and relaxation.

For the first time in the brand’s history, this site introduces a suspended Floatarium — a striking salt bath positioned between two floors that offers buoyant, meditative relaxation in a visually dramatic setting.

The new facility preserves the brand’s signature touches, including its Orange Garden fragrance and carefully curated décor sourced from artisan shops worldwide. The design aims to create an intimate, timeless atmosphere that complements the therapeutic bathing ritual.

Spanning approximately 9,600 square feet, AIRE New York Upper East Side includes two marble exfoliation beds, 12 massage tables across several treatment rooms, separate men’s and women’s locker rooms, and additional amenities to support a full spa program.

This Upper East Side venue joins AIRE’s global network of locations, which includes sites in London, Chicago, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Seville and two properties in Spain’s Catalonia and Andalusia regions. AIRE’s concept began in Seville in 2001 and has since expanded internationally, maintaining a focus on slow, ritualized bathing and calm, restorative spaces.
