Qatar’s Economic Boom: What’s Driving Its Rapid Growth

Qatar Airways is expanding its route network in the coming months with new services and increased frequencies from its hub in Doha (DOH). To meet rising demand, the carrier will boost capacity between Doha and Jakarta (CGK) this summer by adding four weekly flights, introducing more than 2,000 additional seats on the route. These extra frequencies will raise the total to 18 weekly flights starting June 4, operated with Boeing 777 and Airbus A320 aircraft.

Passenger demand for Jakarta has grown significantly in recent years, and Qatar Airways has responded by increasing options for travelers on this popular route. The additional flights will improve flexibility and offer more convenient travel times for both business and leisure customers.

In addition to the Jakarta increase, Qatar Airways will launch several new routes and resume or expand services over the next few months. New and upcoming destinations include:

  • Edinburgh (EDI) — service beginning May 28
  • Miami (MIA) — service beginning June 10
  • Tokyo Haneda (HND) — service beginning June 18
  • Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) — service beginning July 1
  • Djibouti (JIB) — service beginning July 27

These additions reflect the airline’s wider strategy to restore and expand connectivity as travel demand recovers globally. By introducing new destinations and increasing frequencies on established routes, Qatar Airways aims to provide more seat options, improved schedules, and enhanced connectivity through its Doha hub.
