Sheraton Boston Marks 60 Years with Retro Suites and Major Renovation

Sheraton Boston, a Back Bay landmark for six decades, celebrates its 60th anniversary with the unveiling of the new 60s Suite. Part of the property’s ambitious $100 million renovation, the suite was designed in collaboration with The Greater Boston Vintage Society to honor the golden era of travel and mid-century design.

“Boston embraces both history and innovation, and our 60s Suite reflects that spirit,” said Dan Kakabeeke, general manager, Sheraton Boston. “As we celebrate 60 years, we wanted an experience that honors our past while offering an engaging, immersive stay for today’s guests.”

The 60s Suite is a bold, playful tribute to mid-century style, pairing authentic vintage furnishings with Sheraton’s updated contemporary comforts. Guests enter a retro living room featuring a mustard-yellow tufted sofa, an Eames-style lounge chair, and a walnut coffee table set on an orange-patterned rug. Carefully selected décor includes a vintage record player with a collection of period vinyl, a rotary-style clock, and an original mid-century television console that immediately evoke the era. Accent pieces—geometric pillows, a lava lamp, and bold wall art—add color and a stylish, nostalgic atmosphere.

The suite’s bedroom centers on a king bed dressed in retro-inspired linens and playful pillows in shades of orange, rust, and gold. Woven textures, warm ambient lighting, a signature rattan chair, and vintage luggage reinforce the 1960s aesthetic, while modern amenities ensure guests enjoy the full comfort and convenience of the hotel’s renovation.

For a deeper retro experience, guests can book the hotel’s exclusive 1960s Experience package.

Inspired by the year the hotel opened—when the Prudential Center became Boston’s tallest building and the Beatles dominated the charts—this offering immerses guests in the spirit of the 1960s. The package includes an overnight stay in the 60s Suite, early check-in when available, two tickets to View Boston at Prudential Center, a playful welcome amenity of root beer floats and friendship bracelet-making kits, plus a replica vintage Sheraton Boston postcard with postage to send notes the 60s way.
