New Singapore Hotel Blends Tropical Design, Sustainability & Luxe Hospitality

Opened last year, the Pan Pacific Orchard hotel set a new benchmark for high-rise tropical hospitality. Designed by Singapore-based WOHA Architects, the 347-room property combines open-air architecture with abundant greenery, bringing a lush, breathable atmosphere to every public space and many of the guest terraces.

The property’s terraced landscape includes several signature outdoor rooms. The Forest Terrace presents a cascading water plaza framed by forest trees. The Beach Terrace recreates a tropical oasis with an organically shaped emerald lagoon, a sandy “beachfront” and palm groves set above Orchard Road. Sky Terrace, adjacent to the hotel bar and lounge, features manicured gardens with reflection pools and planter beds, while the Cloud Terrace at the top serves as a landscaped event plaza surrounded by a 400-seat ballroom, function spaces, planter islands and reflecting pools beneath a photovoltaic canopy.

By layering terraces and planting across its structure, the building replaces 200 percent of its footprint with greenery, introducing biodiversity into the urban fabric. The open-air, cross-ventilated design was developed for Singapore’s equatorial climate—warm, humid conditions with low average wind speeds and frequent, unpredictable heavy rains—allowing guests to enjoy an outdoor feel while maintaining comfort and shelter when needed.

Signature columns wrapped in dense planting and reflective ceilings that act as thermal mirrors increase radiant cooling by effectively doubling the surface area of gardens and water features. These strategies, along with other sustainable measures, helped Pan Pacific Orchard achieve the Green Mark Platinum rating, Singapore’s top environmental certification.

Guests arrive through the Forest Terrace, enjoying a breezy, verdant check-in experience. All 347 rooms emphasize comfort and quality finishes, including 400-thread-count cotton bedding and bath amenities by Diptyque. Sustainable touches include in-room filtered water dispensers and reusable bottles made from ocean-bound plastic, a responsible choice that helps keep plastic waste out of marine environments.

Club-level guests benefit from a dedicated check-in desk, late check-out options and exclusive access to the Pacific Club Lounge. This 130-seat lounge within the Garden Terrace features custom furnishings and Italian-treated leathered marble counters. With indoor and alfresco seating, the lounge provides a private retreat overlooking landscaped lawns and cabanas.

The hotel’s signature restaurant, Mosella, features Mediterranean cuisine with Peruvian influences under Executive Chef Pedro Samper. On the 11th-level Garden Terrace, Florette operates as a destination bar for both hotel guests and neighbors, noted for a distinguished Champagne selection.

At the heart of the 18th-floor Cloud Terrace sits the Claymore Ballroom, a 6,400-square-foot event space among the city’s highest, equipped with a panoramic LED video wall, floor-to-ceiling windows and capacity for up to 670 guests—making it suitable for large-scale events set against dramatic city and garden views.
