Less than six months after launching service between Boston (BOS) and Dubai (DBX), Emirates is increasing capacity on the route. Beginning Aug. 1, the airline will replace the current Boeing 777-200ER with a larger Boeing 777-300ER to meet growing demand.
Emirates inaugurated its Boston service — its eighth gateway in the United States — on March 10. The upgraded 777-300ER adds 88 economy-class seats, representing a roughly 40 percent increase in seating capacity, and also provides eight first-class suites and 42 business-class seats.
“Emirates has seen steady growth on our Boston route since its launch,” said Hubert Frach, divisional senior vice president, commercial operations West, Emirates. “We believe this strong demand is the result of Emirates’ distinctive product and service.”
Frach added that connecting through Dubai gives travelers from Boston broad access to West Asia, the Middle East, the Far East and Africa: “Our passengers can enjoy unparalleled connectivity to more than 140 destinations via our home hub in Dubai.”
Travelers using the Boston-Dubai route also benefit from Emirates’ partnership with JetBlue, which enables convenient connections to and from 47 destinations across the United States.
