American Airlines Adds New Philadelphia to Europe Flights

American Airlines has added seasonal flights from Philadelphia International Airport to three European destinations: Dubrovnik (DBV), Berlin (BER) and Bologna (BLQ). The new Dubrovnik and Bologna services are now the only nonstop links between those cities and North America.

Dubrovnik has been a particularly popular draw for U.S. travelers in recent years, boosted by its prominent appearance as “King’s Landing” in the HBO series Game of Thrones.

All three routes are scheduled as seasonal summer services running from June through September. They will operate on Boeing 767 aircraft configured with lie-flat business-class seating. The Dubrovnik flights are planned at three times weekly, while the Berlin and Bologna services will each operate four times weekly.

These additions follow other transatlantic expansions by American Airlines this season. In April the carrier began daily seasonal nonstop service from Philadelphia (PHL) to Edinburgh (EDI), Scotland. It also introduced new routes from Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW) to Dublin (DUB) and Munich (MUC).

Earlier this year American launched further international connections, including Charlotte (CLT) to Munich (MUC) and Phoenix (PHX) to London Heathrow (LHR) in March, and a Chicago (ORD) to Athens (ATH) service that began in May. Together, these new routes expand American’s summer network and provide more nonstop options for transatlantic travelers.
