Starting in May, passengers on select American Airlines flights will be offered a complimentary meal included with their ticket.
On transcontinental domestic routes between the East and West Coasts, American Airlines passengers will receive one free boxed meal, with a choice of either breakfast or lunch. Breakfast boxes, which include vegetarian options, will contain yogurt and fruit. Lunch boxes, also with vegetarian selections, will include a wrap, chips and a dessert. Travelers who prefer different options can still purchase alternative meals and snacks onboard.
This complimentary meal service will be available on flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO).
To improve the in-flight experience, the boxed meals will feature recognizable brands that passengers trust, such as Lay’s and Pepperidge Farm. With many carriers continuing to introduce extra fees, the return of a no-cost meal on these coast-to-coast flights provides a welcome value for travelers.
Overall, the refreshed meal offering aims to give passengers a convenient, familiar and satisfying option on long domestic journeys without adding to ticket costs.
