Explore Europe by Cruise with Emerald Waterways: Top Routes & Tips

Emerald Waterways enters Europe’s luxury river cruise market with two new ships: Emerald Sky and Emerald Star. These vessels combine modern design with practical innovations — for example, a heated swimming pool that converts into an open-air cinema, dedicated cabins for solo travelers, and a reimagined balcony concept. Instead of traditional hanging balconies, the ships feature an indoor balcony system with a decked area and a floor-to-ceiling panoramic window that raises at the push of a button to create an alfresco deck experience.

Available itineraries cross some of Europe’s most iconic rivers and cities. Highlights include:

  • Danube Delights: Nuremberg to Budapest
  • Classic Prague and Danube Delights: Prague–Nuremberg–Budapest
  • Splendours of Europe: Amsterdam to Budapest
  • Magical Rhine & Moselle: Basel to Amsterdam
  • Christmas Markets of Europe: Amsterdam to Budapest

Packages are designed to be largely inclusive to simplify travel planning. Standard inclusions cover airport-to-ship transfers, all meals on board, and specially curated “highlight” dinners in the Reflections Restaurant. Guests enjoy complimentary wine, beer, and soft drinks with lunch and dinner, daily restocking of bottled water in cabins, and free onboard WiFi. Daily shore excursions escorted by local guides are part of the experience, and gratuities and port charges are included in the fare. Those booking owner’s one-bedroom suites or grand balcony suites receive additional amenities and upgraded services.

Itineraries range from eight to 15 days, giving travelers the option of short regional trips or longer, more immersive voyages. Pricing starts at $2,255 per person based on double occupancy, with variations depending on route, duration, and suite category.

Emerald Waterways’ new ships aim to blend contemporary comforts with thoughtful details for a relaxed, culturally rich river cruise experience. From innovative public spaces to features tailored for solo travelers, the ships are positioned to appeal to a wide range of guests seeking a refined way to explore Europe’s rivers and historic cities.
