To inspire travelers to express their creativity while planning their next trip to New Zealand, Tourism New Zealand released a set of adult coloring postcards available for download.
Adult coloring, often compared to meditation for its calming effects, was the inspiration behind this campaign. Tourism New Zealand collaborated with native artist Gabby Malpas to create four evocative line-art sketches that invite personal interpretation and artistic flair. The illustrations capture iconic locations across the North and South Islands, including Waiheke Island, the Hobbiton Movie Set, Milford Sound and Cathedral Cove.
“I feel privileged to recreate stunning New Zealand landscapes and really encourage people to bring these to life through their own creativity. The trend of adult coloring is taking the world by storm and I love that it encourages people to get back in touch with their artistic side whilst finding calmness along the way,” Malpas said.
Bjoern Spreitzer, general manager for Tourism New Zealand Americas and Europe, described coloring as a vacation for the mind: “New Zealand has such a rich story to tell with our unique culture, dramatic fjords, action-packed adventure activities and welcoming people. This is another great avenue to showcase it.”
Tourism New Zealand invites people to share their finished postcards on social media with the hashtags #coloryourjourney and #NZMustDo and by tagging @purenewzealand. The line-art illustrations and download details are available on Tourism New Zealand’s campaign pages.
