JetBlue Inspires Kids to Soar Through Reading Adventures

JetBlue and Random House Children’s Books are inviting the public to vote online to help bring 100,000 books to children in need through their Soar with Reading program.

Launched in 2011 to spark children’s imaginations through reading, Soar with Reading has enabled JetBlue and its partners to donate more than $1.25 million worth of books to underserved children. This year the airline has partnered with Random House Children’s Books and Magic Tree House author Mary Pope Osborne to extend that mission and inspire more young readers.

Through August 31, visitors can vote with a single click on the Soar with Reading website to choose which of five cities will receive 100,000 books next summer: Fort Lauderdale, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York, or Houston.

As part of the initiative, JetBlue has placed vending machines stocked with brand-new, free books in underserved neighborhoods across the country. Children ages 0–14 are welcome to visit these locations and take any books they like—no purchase necessary and no restrictions.

To support the vending machine program further, select communities can opt in to an SMS campaign that delivers age-appropriate reading tips, updates about new book selections in the vending machines, and announcements about special guest readers appearing at the machines.
