ViewTag is a reusable electronic luggage tag that combines Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Bluetooth connectivity and an integrated display screen — all designed to work with passengers’ smartphones and the British Airways mobile app.

The durable tag attaches securely to checked baggage and displays flight details and other relevant information, helping passengers monitor and manage their own luggage. By giving travelers direct access to their bag’s status and flight information, the system aims to simplify the check-in and baggage handling process.

“By allowing passengers to transfer their information digitally before they arrive at the airport, check-in is reduced to a matter of seconds,” said Richard Warther, CEO of ViewTag.

Passengers can attach the tag to their luggage prior to arriving at the airport and complete the process through the British Airways app. After checking in and obtaining a boarding pass, travelers sync their boarding information to the ViewTag. The tag uses Bluetooth to read the boarding-pass data from the passenger’s smartphone, so all that’s required is a compatible phone and an active Bluetooth connection to the tag.

The solution is designed to reduce time spent at airport counters and streamline baggage handling by providing a reliable, digital link between passenger and luggage.
